If transformer oil degrades with the increase of moisture, while the cooling capacity decreases with oxidation, then you need Transformer Oil Purifiers!
“What are the indications that the oil needs to be purified and what kind of purifier to use?” These are the two most commonly asked questions for power and oil filled transformer users.
Most of power transformers operated today are filled with mineral oil. The oil is a highly dielectric material and a cooling liquid. Oil efficiency as an insulator degrades with the increase of moisture content in the oil, while the cooling capacity decreases with oxidation. The main method of contaminant removal from oil is reduction of gas content.
Oxidation of transformer oil begins as soon as the transformer is loaded. The chemical reaction in the oil occurs at the moment when it is influenced simultaneously by oxygen, heat and the core components. The combination leads to increase of operating temperature and oil degradation.
With time, any transformer oil needs treatment by Transformer Oil Purifiers, since it absorbs water, accumulates solid particles and solved gases. There are different methods of contaminant removal. If necessary, purification of oil from solved light contaminants, gas and water is performed by high performance vacuum degassers of various kinds. If the contamination is caused by various solid particles, the oil is filtered through various porous screens (in this case the quality of purification depends on the size of the pores through which the oil passes). The most commonplace technique of oil treatment is degassing and removal of solids and moisture by portable systems which purify oil in high voltage transformers.
Last but not least is the method of transformer oil regeneration, which is used when th eoil is highly contaminated by aging products. In this case, if such products are dissolved in the oil, they settle on the surfaces of the tank and core of the transformer. Such aging products are also catalytic to further aging of oil.
There are various types of equipment for transformer oil purification. You can see some of the most commonly used systems in the table below.
List of GlobeCore Transformer Oil Purifiers:
Transformer oil purifiers are used for installation, repairs and operation of oil filled high voltage equipment (power transformers. high voltage switches etc). These systems employ classic oil drying method by creating vacuum and removing water vapor from the surface of the oil.
